Today I was talking with Pennie Latin on BBC Radio Scotland’s Out for the Weekend show about the new Aberdeen-Angus Trail. Have a listen around 01.23.00. When you think about it this meat is a global brand, people in America eat it, the cattle are raised all over Europe and the States, it’s a luxury product the world over, so a trail celebrating these handsome beasts is a long time coming. There are certainly a few gems on the trail. Our kids got frightened in the crypt at Glamis Castle near Forfar, and they sat in the royal chair where little royal bottoms have sat before them. They also loved Ballindalloch Castle in Morayshire. Well, they adored the play park with a fleet of toy tractors and construction vehicles, and they liked peaking into the castle nursery which was stuffed with toys and clothes like any kid’s bedroom.
When it comes to actually getting up close and personal with the cattle then the experience at Cairnton Farm is pretty special. The tots were popped into a trailer and driven behind a tractor into the middle of the herd. They also met a huge bull and a tiny wee calf. All rounded off with afternoon tea in the heart of Banchory. Discover more here.
When approached with a trail are you the type of person who feels the point is to everything on it and tick off each destination, or do you see it more like a menu where you can pick and choose what you fancy? Either way have a listen around 01.23.00.
