Dundee Hotel with a Pool
Dundee Hotel with a Pool – A hotel with a pool is a fantastic luxury, and creates a great base from which to explore. Here are the highlights of Dundee.
Apex City Quay – Dundee Hotel with a Pool
A five minute walk from the railway station (plus the hotel has vast parking) you can’t argue with the Apex’s location. It’s also within walking distance to the city’s main attractions, such as the V&A, Discovery Point and the city centre itself.
Dundee’s Apex City Quay hotel is also really reasonably priced. The pool area boasts a whirlpool, steam room and sauna too. Its Yu Spa is fantastic (and uses Elemis products). I thoroughly recommend booking their 55 minute ‘Signature Treatment’ where you get a bit of everything – back massage, facial and scalp massage.
In terms of accommodation we’re talking smart, modern rooms, and spacious family rooms with a welcoming rubber duck for little ones.
The Apex’s vast lobby, bar and restaurant serves up a whirl of cocktails and good food. The set menus offer two courses for £20, or three courses for £26, making budgeting and settling bills super easy. We dined on a crayfish cocktail starter, prawn tandoori as a main, finishing with a twist on the classic Dundee cake with ‘Dundee cake cheesecake with marinated cherries’ for dessert.
Also look out for ‘Steak Night, Every Night!’ dishing up tomahawk steaks to share with Woody’s chips, Caesar salad, onion rings, peppercorn sauce and a bottle of house wine for £65 between two.
The kids menu is also strong. My lads munched on mozzarella fingers to start, with chicken nuggets, carrots and fries as a main, and milkshake and cookies for dessert. At breakfast, we all made a beeline for the sweet waffles with berry compote, Katy Rogers creme fraiche, and maple syrup. A buffet of goodies, and cooked classics such as full Scottish and eggs on sourdough can also be ordered.
The Apex works for most travellers – business, family, couples, and I’ve visited once before as part of a girls’ weekend break – arrive, cocktail, pool/facilities, spa treatment, dinner, sleep! Book your room now.
The Landmark Hotel – Dundee Hotel with a Pool
The Landmark Hotel is an attractive Scottish mansion house set in its own grounds to the west of the city centre just off the A90. It features an indoor swimming pool, gym and conservatory-style ‘Maze’ restaurant. Smart, fresh bedrooms range from Doubles to Deluxe King Family rooms. Dundee town centre is within a 10-minute drive, and the V&A Dundee is under five miles away – a country escape just outside the city. See images and book here.
Best Western Woodlands Hotel
The Best Western Woodlands is more in the Broughty Ferry area, east of Dundee, but I’m adding it for your research. It features a large heated swimming pool, gym, sauna, and steam room. Admittance to the leisure club for hotel guests is £5 per adult and £2.50 per child (aged 4-16), and under 4’s are free. Spa treatments can also be booked. See images and book here.
