Camping Near Edinburgh Scotland – Hot Tubs Available – Introducing Drummohr Holiday Park, just five miles drive from the capital, and with a bus stop to Edinburgh at the bottom of the road, a train station in nearby Musselburgh connecting you with Edinburgh Waverley/Haymarket public transport is no problem either. Located just outside Musselburgh, Drummohr offers spacious pitches for campervans and tents (with relevant modern and clean washing, laundry and shower facilities required) alongside glamping pods and luxurious two- or three-bedroom hot tub lodges. It’s ideally situated for Musselburgh Racecourse too.

The holiday park also won Best Campsite 2026 at the Scottish Hospitality Awards, and it’s a five-star venue. What’s not to love?!

Hot Tub Lodge

We were booked into a two-bedroom lodge, and it was impressive. Alongside a fully furnished kitchen, the master bedroom had an ensuite shower room, there was a separate bathroom, a twin room for the boys, vast kitchen/dining/living room, plus a small TV room so the kids could have their own space. The lodges are very spacious and smart.

On the decking, which was sheltered and private, the hot tub was located. Even better, it was ready to use the moment we checked in – no waiting till the following day for it to heat up like other campsites. There was also a barbecue and coals for us to use, which got us in the campsite mood.

Other details. Bedding, towels and hot tub towels are provided, as are dishwasher tablets, cloths, teatowels and other essentials like tea and coffee. A lovely touch was a small bottle of milk in the fridge to make that first cuppa with! A welcome pack contained a bottle of prosecco, Tunnocks goodies, and Irn Bru for the youngsters, with handy plastic glasses if you fancied your bubbles in the bubbling hot tub. Dogs are welcome in the campsite too.

When we explored onsite, the kids spent a while at the playground, which has different areas/apparatus for different age groups, and there was plenty of room for them to kick a ball around too. There’s a special dog-walking alley, we saw generous pitches for tents and campervans alongside washing, laundry and shower facilities, plus cute glamping pods too.

We received ample info prior to arriving so we felt prepped and ready to go! Check-in is very personable and friendly. We arrived after the office officially shut so a telephone number was left for us to contact, and within a minute of calling, a staff member whizzed out to meet us on his golf buggy. You’re escorted to your pitch/lodge, and guided where to park, then we were personally talked through the lodge and all the practical info and hot tub safety guidance. It was great to ask questions and gain some local knowledge too.

While Edinburgh is a big draw (by bus, train or car), there’s plenty to do on the doorstep. I’ll write up a full Musselburgh guide soonish, but Prestongrange Industrial Museum is metres from the Holiday Park. We also visited Inveresk Lodge Gardens before walking into town to eat at Company Bakery and grab an ice cream at Luca’s famous local parlour. After lunch we viisted the free Musselburgh Museum, Fisherrow Harbour and Musselburgh Beach.

The next day we walked the John Muir Way from Musselburgh to Prestonpans and onto Cockenzie. The route hugs the coastline so it’s scenic and easy to follow.
