Best Restaurants in Bratislava, Slovakia
Best Restaurants Bratislava – Meat dishes, dumplings and beer, what’s not to love when travelling with two ravenous tweenagers? We ate A LOT in Bratislava – it was good value for money, so here are the best bits.

Traditional Slovak Food
Our Favourite, Koliba Kamzik – Best Restaurants Bratislava
Our favourite restaurant dishing up Slovak dishes was Koliba Kamzik. We had to queue five minutes to get a table but it was worth it. The pulled venison starter was exceptional, my son loved his dumplings, Junior relished the pork belly, and My Husband bravely tried a firestarter alcoholic drink and nearly blew his head off!
Flagship Restaurant – Best Restaurants Bratislava
Flagship is touristy and unmissable at the same time. Its theatrical wooden interiors are really impressive, a great backdrop for a rich meal, and the tasting platters of dumplings and cheese make a great intro to Slovakian cuisine. Arrive early (before 7pm) or book a table.
Pod Kamennym Stronom – Best Restaurants Bratislava
Pod Kamennym Stronom was the best value for money Slovak restaurant. I opted for the €22 Autumn set menu, which kicked off with a venison pancake starter, chicken leg main, and a gorgeous strudel dessert, plus it included a beer. Three courses and a drink for €22 – blown away!
Combine Beer & Grub – Best Restaurants Bratislava
Brewery, Mestiansky Pivovar
Anything with Pivovar in the name signifies a brewery, which dish up hearty meals washed down with gallons of beer. We dropped by Mestiansky Pivovar for pork, dumplings and pate. Delicious.

The KGB Pub
This underground bar is a colourful mix of Soviet memorabilia, banners, artefacts and cheeky posters – slightly bonkers, in a good way. Kids are welcome too. We visited when it opened at 4pm when it wasn’t too busy.
Beer Flights & Tastings

While there are various beer tours visitors can undertake, we enjoyed a simple beer flight at the modern and welcoming Venturska Klubovna. This flight was reasonably priced at €6.50. Food also served and kids welcome too.
Fast Food & Street Food
For a quick pitstop I can’t fault Solo Pizza in the centre of town. A pizza slice is €3, there is an array of toppings, so we dropped by a couple of times for a quick, delicious fix. Meanwhile, for Street Food, we visited the Food Park by the Namestie Square and Old Market Hall. We found some stalls opverpriced for the amount of food you received, but were very satisfied with the beef quesadillas and duck lokses from Miki‘s van. Lots of outdoor seating here so great for a bright, dry and ideally warm day.
Brunch – Best Restaurants Bratislava
A local brunch favourite is Mondieu. This Slovakian chain delivers a glorious range of brunch dishes, smoothies and coffees all over the city, but the riverside property was our preferred stop with its sunny outdoor seating. We also enjoyed brunch at Mimosa, but Mondieu was our favourite – Junior won’t stop talking about Mondieu’s croissant custard bake.
Let Them Eat Cake
Konditorei Kormuth
Travel back in time (with cake!) at Konditorei Kormuth. This elegant patisserie is a colourful riot of antiques, Baroque decoration, vintage tea-sets and artistic frescoes. It’s so beautiful, very Instagramable and has a minimum spend of €15. While it can be a bit of a tourist trap, I’d recommend getting trapped in there!
Local Soft Drinks

Everywhere we went, from bars to breweries, the kids were welcome and enjoyed Vinea fizzy grape pop (in white or black grape flavours) or they horsed into Coke alternative Kofola.
