Dumfries House Lodges, Estate, Restaurant and Tour – Review
We visited Dumfries House in January 2020, and we’ve held back sharing it for so long, but with the talk that summer staycations may be possible it’s time to share. So if you’re looking for somewhere different when it’s eventually safe to explore Scotland bear Dumfries Estate in mind. This country estate is a family friendly rural break. Self-catering accommodation is ideal in times of Covid, and the grounds and country house are simply stunning. It also makes for a good day out, and does a mean Sunday lunch. Have you seen the house’s yellow family parlour? It’s jaw-dropping, I wouldn’t let my kids near it 🙂

Located in the converted and extended grain store, this luxury offering is a restful escape in rugged Caithness. Run and managed by His Royal Highness’ charity, The Prince’s Foundation, the quirky accommodation is handily situated on the NC500 route, and I was honoured to be invited to attend the opening.
