Stocking Fillers & Gifts – Scottish Christmas Gift Ideas
Did you know the Grufallo was most of Julia Donaldson’s books were written in Scotland? Anyhow, I’ve scoured one of my favourite budget shops looking for ideas for kids. My eldest will now read on car journeys(!!!) but only if it’s a book he likes – the latest Wimpy Kid Dyper Overlode is out and we’ve already bought it. Don’t tell him. You can even buy book advent calendars, including a Gruffalo book advent calendar currently only £12 (see pic above).
Other travel activities for cars, planes and trains include a Christmas Wordsearch – also a godsend in restaurants. Here’s an allrounder Christmas Quiz book for kids for a few quid. Sudoko can also be a winner in our house. I found lots of different annuals – from Minecraft and Paw Patrol to Barbie and the Natural History Museum’s Dinosaurs Annual 2023.
Buy your own Travel Journal, browse Christmas Crafts for kids to keep them occupied, or fill their stockings with Christmas rubber ducks.
Arran Aromatics / Sense of Scotland – Scottish Christmas Gift Ideas
When we visited Arran last year we were sure to visit Brodick Castle (another NTS site), buy the cheese and seek out Sense of Scotland toiletries. This year you can treat yourself to an advent calendar, or try their Crimbo candles. Alternatively, stick to their fresh scented toiletries, like the famous ‘After the Rain’.

I’ve already bought Yeti Christmas pyjamas for the kids from M&S – again, shh, don’t tell them. So cute. Browse the whole range here. One year I bought my hubby designer wellies – browse Hunter for a v cool selection. Travel games such as travel connect4 or travel battleship work well for kids. And a pal put me onto the discounted quality beauty brands delivered straight to your door from LookFantastic. Browse their Christmas bundles now. Don’t forget beautiful advent calendars from LookFantastic, Debenhams, and Marks and Spencers. I think the Debenhams ones are particularly good value, and not too expensive. And if you’re looking for luxury glassware at non-luxury prices be sure to browse Dunelm Mill – their champagne glasses and cocktail glasses are always a hit.
Holiday
Rather than another toy, family members could contribute to a dream holiday for kids for Spring 2023. Look out for offers and deals to make this a reality. My boys are currently on a lego vibe, especially Minecraft Lego, so we’re considering Legoland but will keep checking deals to see if we can make it happen.
