Aberdeen Panto and Christmas Shows for 2022 – With a host of Christmas shows coming to Aberdeen it’s time to feel festive. We used to request Panto tickets from the kids’ grannies, as we felt our children didn’t need more stuff. It was nice to head out with nanny and share an experience together. Now that times have changed, they do remember these outings more than any toy. There’s a lovely mix of shows on offer this year so read on…
Fairytale of New York – 30 November
I honestly can’t wait for this. Fairytale of New York on 30 November will really set us up for Christmas. From the producers of Seven Drunken Nights-The Story of The Dubliners this show sings out Christmas hits including Driving home for Christmas, White Christmas, Oh Holy Night, Winter’s Tale, Silent Night and of course (my favourite all time Christmas song) Fairytale of New York. Then it’s time for the Irish sing-a-long too, my heritage through and through, so you may hear us singing The Irish Rover, Danny Boy and Dirty Old Town. Tivoli’s Panto – Goldilocks and the Three Bears 2-22 December
Goldilocks and her mum, Tina Trott, apparently run a circus. They meet three bears, and a baddy lurks with the sole intention of destroying Trott’s circus…!! An evening of thrills and panto magic for all the family. From £18 at the Tivoli.
The Enormous Christmas Turnip 3-23 December
The Lemon Tree Christmas production always have such a calming, intimate quality to them, and this sounds super cute for younger children. The Enormous Christmas Turnip invites the audience to help two playful bunnies get ready, set, and grow grow grow at the Lemon Tree. But problems emerge when one vegetable grows a little too big! Also look out for the Twilight Performance on 22nd December at 6pm where the audience is invited to come along in their PJs and enjoy a warm mug of hot chocolate while watching the show. The perfect bedtime story. £11 Adult ticket.
HMT Aberdeen Panto – Peter Pan! 3 December – 8 January
This is the big one, the HMT Panto. This year Brendan McHugh will be flouncing about with his regular side kick Paul Corrigan. Brendan Cole (from Strictly) plays Hook – Boooo! – and CBeebies actress Danielle Jam is the gorgeous Tinkerbell. The sumptuous and sometimes ridiculous costumes, glorious sets, local humour, dialect and banter make this show a mad Christmas whirl. Also look out for a BSL Interpreted Performance on 15 Dec at 7pm, Audio Described Performance on 17 Dec at 2.30pm and a Relaxed Performance on the 5 Jan at 1.00pm. Tickets from £14.50.
RSNO: Christmas Concert featuring The Snowman – 15 December
Head to the Music Hall for a family friendly Christmas concert full of sing along carols and festive melodies. Plus, don’t miss the magical film The Snowman shown on the big screen, accompanied by the Orchestra and narrated by a special star guest. How festive! Tickets from £13.00.
