Pick your Own Fruit and Strawberries in Scotland – As summer launches, discover bushes and vines laden with juicy fruit across the fields of Scotland. Nowadays, many farms offer family friendly parks, mazes and play areas for kids, alongside farm shops and cafes so you can make a whole day of it.
STIRLING
Briarsland Farm, Blair Drummond
If it’s strawberries and a play you’re after head to Briarsland, which grows raised strawberries in polytunnels. The play area includes tractor and trailer rides, a Nessie climbing frame, a hay fort, and it’s possible to feed the animals and attend animal handling sessions. Stay at Stirling Highland Hotel in Stirling. This converted former has a pool that kids love, whirlpool and steam room, and even an unexpected Observatory on the roof.

FIFE – Pick Your Own Fruit and Strawberries in Scotland
Cairnie Fruit Farm, Cupar
So many different fruits grow at Cairnie, from strawberries, raspberries and redcurrants to blackcurrants, gooseberries, cherries and brambles. It’s even possible to pick pumpkins & sunflowers. It’s also a place to have fun in the aptly named Funyard.
Another highlight is the Maize Maze – get lost from mid July to the end of October. There’s also a cafe and farm shop on site. cairniefruitfarm.co.uk

HIGHLANDS
Wester Hardmuir Fruit Farm, Nairn
Escape to the Highlands to pick strawberries, raspberries, gooseberries, cherries, blueberries, redcurrants and blackcurrants, brambles, plums and apples. Kids will be tempted by Wester Hardmuir’s farm ice cream, which mixes fresh fruit with Mieles of Forres ice cream. A farm shop is on site too. hardmuir.com

Charleton Fruit Farm, Montrose
A highlight here are the yellow raspberries that are somewhat unusual. Also look out for fruit in its expected colours, such as strawberries, raspberries, redcurrants, plums and local tayberries. Get a full list of their PYO fruit on their website. Look out for an adventure park for kids to play in, consider a trio of cafes/restaurants, and pick up some tayberry jam in the farm shop. charleton-farm.co.uk
EDINBURGH – Pick Your Own Fruit and Strawberries in Scotland
Craigies Farm, near Edinburgh
A new Little Farmers Adventure Park opened in 2021, so this is the place to be for little ones. Expect PYO including strawberries, currants, cherries and apples, plus some veg and sunflowers too. Pumpkins are popular in October! The farm shop is always busy, and the cafe’s very popular too.

Choose between PYO strawberries, raspberries, gooseberries, blackcurrants, redcurrants and tayberries, depending on the season.
