Chessington World of Adventure Offer Kids Play FREE this Summer
I was browsing cool family-friendly destinations near London that were easy to reach from Scotland. Places that would make my kids’ heads spin (in a good way). The photo below from Chessington World of Adventure has stuck in the head of Junior, aged 4. He spied it over my shoulder and has not stopped talking about it. He keeps asking when we can go to the swimming pool with the animals, as if I have a magic wand.

Chessington looks epic. Right now Kids Play FREE at Chessington World of Adventures Resort, from £62 per person during the summer holidays. For those unfamiliar with Chessington, it offers ten themed lands, with over forty rides and attractions. This includes the Gruffalo River Ride, which allows wee ones to take a stroll through the deep dark wood. Brand new for 2019 is ‘Room on the Broom – A Magical Journey‘, where children enter a magical library to help the witch find her lost belongings, meet the characters and keep an eye out for the fearsome dragon. There’s also Chessington Zoo, SEA LIFE centre and Go Ape. There’s time to go nuts, then chill out, then retire to your own themed hotel room!
–The Kids Play Free offer is available on all hotel and ticket packages throughout the year when booked before midnight Monday 8th July – read more detail here. Chessington Packages include an overnight stay in either the Resort Hotel (which features themed Room on the Broom rooms, Gruffalo rooms, as well as Monkey Temple, Penguins of Madagascar, Giraffe and African Adventure rooms), Explorer Glamping Tents or a nearby partner hotel, breakfast, Theme Park tickets plus 2nd Day FREE entry.
-The Gruffalo is also hosting a Summer Party, from the 19th July – 2nd September, to celebrate turning 20. What a fine age!
Getting There – Chessington World of Adventure Offer
-Reaching Chessington is pretty straightforward. For info about getting there direct from a London airport, click here. Or, if you’re planning a bit of sightseeing first, below are directions from central London.
By Rail – Chessington is within 35 minutes of central London and regular South Western Railway services run from Waterloo, Clapham Junction and Wimbledon. Take the train to Chessington South Station. The park is approximately 10 minutes walk from the station. Chessington South station is located within Zone 6 of the London Travel zones and accepts Oyster cards. For more information please call South West Trains Customer Service on 0345 6000 650 or start planning your journey. If you travel by rail you can also get a combined train and ticket offer with National Rail.
Another wee thing to point out is what a taxi driver in Newcastle called the ‘Scottish Fortnight’ – the period of time when the Scottish kids are off school before the English schools break up. This is a good opportunity to take advantage of quieter venues and potential deals in England and abroad, before prices perhaps alter with the start of the English school holidays. At the minute, kids in some parts of Scotland are off from 1 July till late August, with many English schools off from the 15 July, into early September.
You can book the Kids Play Free offer from Monday 24 June 2019 till midnight on Monday 8th July 2019. I’m going to keep my eye out for offers later in the year too. And remember, if you share these images with your kids, you will never hear the end of it 🙂
