Escape to the country to luxury lodges, and the indulgence of a hot tub. This Loch Tay waterside resort in rural Perthshire gets you away from it.
Accommodation – Loch Tay Lodges with Hot Tub
Our three bedroom lodge at Loch Tay Highland Lodges was beautiful. The master bedroom had an ensuite shower room. There were two twin rooms, a bathroom, a fab decking area with stunning views, and a very spacious, smart and contemporary kitchen/dining room/living room. The wood burning stove not only brought heat but added those cosy vibes that kick in during autumn/winter. When we couldn’t figure out the TV, a quick phone call brought help almost instantly to our lodge so I was happy with the service. Our kitchen was well furnished, so it was easy to prep meals, chill wine and indulge. Very luxurious.

Hot Tub
The hot tub brought us the greatest joy. We were in it around three times a day, and loved it. It takes a little while to heat up on your first night’s stay (as the water is filled up fresh) so I didn’t use it until the morning (38 degrees) but the boys were in on the first evening at around 34 degrees! The views over the loch are so calming. I don’t mind a hot tub in the rain, but our lodge’s tub (Eldersburn) also had a cover, so even as the rain fell we were snug.
Dog Friendly
The estate is popular with pups. Our lodge even had a tin of doggy treats.
Check In
Check In is from 4pm. Collect your key between 4-5pm. After 5pm collect keys for pick up at a clearly marked collection point. Check out is 9.30am.

On Site Activities
Activities can be booked onsite, from archery, axe throwing and disc golf to watery adventures including gorge walking, river tubing and katakanu (6-seater canoe hire). We tried a self drive boat through the v helpful In Your Element (located on site by the water’s edge). It’s an all day hire – 9am-4pm for £140 at the time of writing. Fishing isn’t permitted so it’s a case of exploring the loch. Little ones can take the helm, be captain and steer, so this was a new experience for our boys. The scenery is beautiful.
Off Site Activities
Loch Tay Highland Lodges also have links with a host of external off site providers such as Nae Limits Activities, Killin Golf Club, Highland Safaris and Loch Tay Safaris.
Location – Loch Tay Lodges with Hot Tub
The lodges are wonderfully isolated. It’s the kind of place where you can just hide away with a book, board games, and good food and drink. Exploring the site itself is scenic and a good wee stretch of the legs. There’s a very short walk from the gate posts up into the hills. It’s not circular but it gives good views of the loch. Many guests prefer the greater challenge of the National Trust for Scotland’s Ben Lawers, Scotland’s tenth highest munro at just over 1200 feet. The Ben Lawers nature reserve boasts seven munros in total so there are several to choose between.
Other things to do relatively nearby include the Scottish Crannog Centre in Kenmore (13 miles away) and Highland Safari/Red Deer Centre (16 miles distance).
Loch Tay Highland Lodges are part of Largo Leisure, which has three other sites to consider. Lethan Feus near Leven in Fife, Braidhaugh in Crieff, Perthshire and Sauchope Links in Crail (boasts an outdoor swimming pool).
Food & Drink – Loch Tay Lodges with Hot Tub
Our lodge was so lovely, and the kitchen so well furnished that eating in was an obvious choice. There is a restaurant on site called The Boathouse. The cocktails were attractive and delicious. The kids’ starters were quite expensive at £6.90 for 4 slices of garlic bread. In contrast, the kid’s main portion was generous, although the boys described the pizza as very ‘bready’. A main course is pictured above, Pan Fried Free Range Chicken £17.95.
Overall, tucking ourselves away at Loch Tay Highland Lodges was a peaceful, escape from it all. And with the option of a hot tub, a woodburning stove and self-catering, it really didn’t matter what the weather did.
