Landal Piperdam Lodges with Hot Tub near Dundee – This relaxed resort is set 20 minutes from Dundee and offers a swimming pool, restaurant, golf, family friendly activities, spa and a range of hot tub lodges. This is how we got on…

Our Lodge – Piperdam Lodges Review

piperdam lodges

Landal Piperdam offers a large range of lodges of different sizes, ages and with different facilities. We were staying in a new and v smart Lochside Lodge with a vast waterside decking area embellished with a notably large hot tub. The four-bedroom lodge sleeps eight people across two doubles and two twins, ALL with ensuite shower/bathrooms. The accommodation is white and airy, with a huge fully furnished kitchen diner (bring all condiments and ingredients with you, from pepper to olive oil and coffee). Upstairs is a living room area with TV and pool table as well. There’s also parking at each lodge for two cars, perhaps three at a push.

Our hut tub wasn’t warm on the first night of arrival (which isn’t guaranteed at most establishments as water is obviously changed after each set of guests checks out) so we hung out, cooked and ate, then played pool. By the following morning it was piping hot. What a great way to start the day! The location by the water meant we also saw wildlife as we chilled out in our bubbling tub, including moorhens, ducks and even a heron.

Because Piperdam’s accommodation offering is so mixed and varied (some with hot tubs, some without), I’d advise studying the website for newer/older properties and differing price points and choose what suits you. I can personally recommend the Lochside Lodges. They were lush!

Activities – Piperdam Lodges Review

I hadn’t appreciated HOW MANY activities were available on site. Each day has a different timetable on offer. We didn’t need to leave the resort! It was arguably as economical to book some activities and eat lunch cheaply at the lodge, than head out sightseeing and dine out. First up, the warm swimming pool with its bubble pool, sauna and steam room are free for all guests to use during their stay.

Other activities have an additional cost. The kids got stuck into a slime workshop, making two types of gloopy gross slime (£10 per child for 45 mins), they went nuts in the large soft play (£6.75 per child) and they loved the high octane Segway experience (£20 per person for 45 mins). Adults are welcome to participate in most activities too. More grown up activities include 9 and 18-hole golf courses, plus a spa that uses Elemis products. Browse and book activities here.

Room with a View Restaurant

I’d read mixed reviews of the onsite restaurant ‘Room with a View’, but we saw lots of large tables being well catered for, and the relaxed menu worked well for us. The kids tucked into generous bacon burgers and cheeky chocolate brownies from the children’s menu. Mr Scots2Travel was happy with his Scotch egg starter, followed by a pork belly main. Meanwhile I tucked into vegetable tempura, followed by Chicken Balmoral. It was a lovely night out. Who wants to cook every night on holiday?!

Check In – Piperdam Lodges Review

Check In was traditional and pretty swift. Visit the reception where helpful staff will give you a map and the key to your lodge. You can also book any activities at reception too, and this is where guests access the swimming pool.

Overall, we had a great stay as a family, and I know this could be a welcome break for groups or hen dos/girls weekends too.
